Missions and Service

The River of Life is Missionally Focused

The River of Life ministry has been missionally focused from the beginning with a unique focus of giving the predominant amount of love offering collected directly to providing water resources, giving life, to others around the world. It is our commitment to share the love of God with others through this gift of water that our Lord has shared with us.

Clean Water for Haiti

Our goal in 2012 is to raise another $5,000 to build wells in the town of Tremesse, Haiti. The need is even greater in this area than where we have provided water before. The two pictures, left and middle, above help illustrate how this community suffers from polluted water. Many have already died from dysentery and cholera in contaminated water here in this area. Building wells in Tremesse will keep this little girl from walking nearly two miles for dirty, polluted water, but give her clean water in a much shorter trip.

If you are coming to our services this summer, please bring some money to contribute for these wells. If you can't attend one of our services, consider sending a check to the River of Life.

100% of the money will go towards providing clean water.

Follow our progress each week!

We will be updating our "water tracker" each week this summer as we reach our goal for the health and hope of those in the Tremesse area.

We have Hope for Haiti!

We met our goal in 2011

Our contribution of $5,000 is providing water for a remote area of Haiti

How We Helped: Through River of Life's commitment to giving hope through water to the people of Haiti, three new wells were dug in the remote towns of Dondon and St. Rafael. In the header above, the picture on the right shows one of the wells being operated by a local physician Dr. Eugene who helped establish the wells. Pastor Wayner was humbled and inspired through the presence of life-giving water running through his fingers. This symbol of living water represents how you have helped restore hope in Haiti!

There is More to Do!

After traveling to Haiti in January 2012, Pastor Wayner realized just how great the need is for water in Haiti. There are many areas desperate for water including the community of Temesse. The photos above of the little girl and the area where she is going to get water for her family are from the Tremesse area and illustrate the need.

We will again be working with Dr. Eugene to build the wells. In addition we are working with the principal of the local school (shown in the video by the river) to help insure as many families as possible have access to clean water. Since he grew up in the area, he recognizes the desperate need of the people there. He tells us that over the past year people in his community have died from cholera and dysentery. Jacques (pronounced Jack) shares his concerns in the video above that "the need is very great."

Local Missions and Service Opportunities

If your group is interested in ministering through service in the Nantahala and Bryson City areas, there are many needs in this depressed area of western North Carolina. Whether you would like to do construction work, be a part of our community garden, or help with our local "no kill" animal shelter we welcome your help. There are ministry opportunities available for all ages.
